Rowhouse Bathroom Transformation
For this historic Norfolk rowhouse, we converted a 5’x8′ bathroom into a functional wet room with a wall-mounted toilet, corner sink, and glass-enclosed shower. Large-format tiles in a herringbone pattern visually expand the space, while a mirrored medicine cabinet doubles storage.
We preserved original architectural details like the transom window while upgrading all plumbing to meet modern codes – a challenge in this 1920s home.
The Challenger
The tiny bathroom felt claustrophobic, with a clawfoot tub taking up 60% of the floor space. The owners needed full functionality without expanding the footprint.
The Result
The new layout fits a full shower, toilet, and vanity without sacrificing style. The black-and-white color scheme honors the home’s historic charm.
