For a Hampton couple who loved the farmhouse aesthetic but wanted modern conveniences, we designed a kitchen with clean-lined shaker cabinets, a farmhouse sink, and sleek stainless appliances. The focal point is a 10-foot island with room for barstools and hidden outlets for devices. We used durable porcelain tile that looks like weathered wood for easy maintenance.
The secret to this design’s success? Mixing rustic elements (like exposed beams) with contemporary touches (hidden smart storage and touchless faucets).
The Challenger
Their old kitchen had peeling laminate counters, inefficient cabinet storage, and no seating area for guests.
The Result
The new space balances charm and functionality, with a coffee nook, pull-out spice racks, and a layout that makes cooking a joy rather than a chore.
