We created a future-proof bathroom for retirees planning to age at home, featuring a zero-entry shower with grab bars, comfort-height toilet, and vanity with knee space. Non-slip flooring and lever-handle faucets ensure safety, while the warm color palette avoids an institutional feel.
Structural reinforcements behind walls allow for easy grab bar adjustments as needs change – a critical detail for accessible design.
The Challenger
The existing bathroom had a dangerous step-in tub, poor lighting, and no space for a caregiver to assist if needed.
The Result
The clients now enjoy a beautiful yet practical space with fold-down shower seating and emergency alert system wiring concealed behind elegant wainscoting.
